| I've been watching this hurricane Gustov for DAYS now. Worried it would do a little bobble and head it more in our direction. As it stands now, we'll get some rain but probably no wind or anything bad. And the rain would actually be welcome, we've been in a drought most of the summer and everything's brown and the soil powdery.
I certainly feel for those people who have had to leave their homes along the coast, in Louisiana and Mississippi and I think some in Texas too. That must be an awful feeling to drive off and leave your home, not knowing if it'll be there when you return. I'm glad to see the people who were bussed out of New Orleans got to bring their pets this time. I think many would not have left if it weren't for that, their pets are family to them.
The last I heard there were some people staying at the local school, in the gymnasium I think, and maybe some more in other places. Nobody's at our church yet but it's been under renovation this summer and there's still a lot of equipment around so perhaps it won't be used as a shelter this time because of that.
We did our family Labor Day stuff early this time, some Saturday and some yesterday afternoon so today's going to be a quiet day here which is very welcome. It may be a while before I get a day off in the week again. My sister had to work today but with her job there's always a need for someone 24/7, so she went to work though she could have opted to stay home.

| Did you know there are Dexter books out there? I didn't know that. Someone needs to beef up the advertising. I've been an on/off fan of Dexter for a while, but I'm really wanting to get a hold of these books and see what their take on him is.
Well, I saw The Clone Wars but I missed The Mummy. Of course, the real Evie's not in it anymore and I was a bit concerned about that.
It has been eerily quiet at work recently. My schedule is running smoothly and I've had very little interference from the higher ups, very unusual but very welcome.

| We just got home late last night. Destin was beautiful. We got some rain but not enough to interfere with anything. I could have happily stayed there forever. I would like to go back during the off-season when it wouldn't be so crowded. Our motel was expensive (to us, it wasn't the fanciest in town) but it was worth it for the security and comfort and cleaness, and right where we could get to the beach and several wonderful restaurants around. It wasn't until the third day that we actually got back in the car and rode around looking. | |

| Well, I spent my day off nicely...cleaning. The refrigerator was a nightmare. I threw all kinds of stuff away out of there, the freezer, and the pantry. If I couldn't remember when I got it and it had no date, out it went. Then of course I had to clean the floor and the counters where I'd set stuff out.
I did sit down for a while and tried to make sense of all these notes I have. I've two X-Files stories that I never quite got together and they're just in a jumble but I'd like to finish them. I have a Luke Skywalker story I'd like to finish and now I hear the soft voices of Dean and Sam calling to me but I'm resisting because I feel I should finish the previous ones first, don't you think?
I've began a new Star Trek book, haven't read one in years and this one's mainly about Spock but so far it's extremely confusing and I'm kind of discouraged at finishing it.

| I've really gotten hooked on watching the X-Files reruns at 4:00 here. I don't always get home from work in time to see the show from the beginning but usually see some of it. It really helps me unwind. I couldn't believe when I saw the dates though, has it really been so long since the show went off the air? It's too bad Supernatural hasn't caught on like the X-Files did because it's just as good. I still think the show is not advertised enough.
I have to go into work for a couple of hours tomorrow, a training thing. Just enough to throw a kink into the day.
